Chiropractic and Yoga ~ & Immunity during COVID-19

What is the connection between chiropractic and yoga (you may ask)?

The North American Industry Classification System defines chiropractic as (doctors) / practitioners who "provide diagnostic and therapeutic treatment of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system and related disorders via manipulating and adjusting (treating) spinal and extremity misalignment."

When a chiropractor corrects spinal misalignment (bones of the spine aka spinal vertebrae) she/he relieves nerve impingement, allowing the nervous system to optimally function ~ thereby increasing performance of the areas innervated by the related nerve(s).

Research has shown that stress can cause muscles to pull bones out of alignment thereby causing impingement on nerves both in the spine and other areas of the body ~ wherever two bones come together ~ aka joints.

In the book Science of Yoga by Ann Swanson, MS ~ she notes that yoga can "calm your nervous system by elongating your exhales... ~ which will boost your immunity."

The International Journal of Research in Engineering; Science and Management, June 2020 (https://www.ijresm.com/Vol.3_2020/Vol3_Iss6_June20/IJRESM_V3_I6_175.pdf) noted that "since yoga has an impactful role in aiding mental health which is related to stress. The article noted that India, (which has utilized Ayurveda medicine for centuries) has been "shown to be very helpful to enhance immunity of the human body." It also noted that this could be very helpful to boost immunity during COVID-19 pandemic.

It should also be noted that chiropractic care increases range of motion when joints are aligned properly, (that's just simple bio-mechanics y'all), therefore

it makes sense that yoga poses and flows will be achieved much easier and with better success when the entire body is aligned.
